I have just finished packing excitedly for a trip to the Pacific Northwest that will involve sipping coffee in Seattle, staying in a mountain meadow cabin in Olympic National Park, hiking at Mount Rainier, the highest peak of the Cascade Range, and visiting Portland, the American city with the highest proportion of residents who bike to work.
